Starting on September 10, 2026, the payment method available in the e-charge app will be updated. Payment via the e-wallet will be replaced by a new, modern and secure mechanism: pre-authorization payment. This update is part of our ongoing efforts to simplify the charging experience.
What is pre-authorization payment?
Pre-authorization payment involves:
- Selecting a predefined amount directly in the app before starting a charging session.
- Pre-authorizing (temporarily blocking) this amount on your bank card.
- Paying only for the energy actually consumed immediately after the charging session ends.
Minimum pre-authorized amounts:
- 30 LEI (VAT included) for AC charging sessions within the e-charge Network and Partner Networks' roaming networks.
- 70 LEI (VAT included) for DC charging sessions within the e-charge Network and Partner Networks' roaming networks.
Maximum pre-authorized amount:
- 300 LEI (VAT included) for AC and DC charging sessions within the e-charge Network and Partner Networks' roaming networks.
What changes for you?
Starting on September 10, 2026, the e-wallet will no longer be available. All future charging sessions will be carried out exclusively using the pre-authorization payment mechanism. If you have funds available in your e-wallet, we recommend using them before this date.
How will the transition take place?
The payment system update will take place during the night of September 10, 2026, between 00:01 and 00:30.
During this period, some charging stations may be temporarily unavailable.
If you experience any difficulties, please contact us at [email protected] or +40 31 640 06 40.
Do I need to log in again to the app?
No. Most users will not need to log in again.
Only customers who have not updated the e-charge app to the latest version will need to update the app and log in again using their email address and password.
Required steps:
- Update the e-charge app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Accept the new Terms and Conditions.
- Re-enter the bank card details used for pre-authorization. (Previously saved cards cannot be transferred automatically.)
Can I still use the e-charge (RFID) card after September 10, 2026?
No. RFID cards can no longer be used starting on September 9, 2026, as the new pre-authorization payment mechanism requires the exclusive use of the e-charge mobile app to start charging sessions.
For individual customers
e-charge (RFID) cards issued to individual customers and previously used together with the e-wallet will be deactivated starting on September 10, 2026, and will no longer be available for use at charging stations within the e-charge Network or Partner Networks.
Charging sessions will only be available through the e-charge mobile app using pre-authorization payment.
For business customers
RFID cards will no longer be available for B2B customers who previously used the e-wallet and switch to pre-authorization payment. For B2B customers on monthly invoicing, RFID cards will remain valid and may continue to be used, in accordance with the applicable contractual terms.
What happens to the remaining funds in my e-wallet?
Any unused funds remaining as of September 9, 2026 (inclusive) will be automatically transferred as an available balance within the new payment mechanism, once the new Terms and Conditions have been accepted in the app.
This balance will be used first until fully depleted. After that, charging sessions will be paid through pre-authorization.
If there are any outstanding amounts on your account, they must be settled before September 10, 2026.
What should I do if I do not agree with these changes?
If you do not wish to continue the contractual relationship following these updates, you may terminate it within 14 calendar days of receiving the notification dated August 20, 2026, by sending an email to: [email protected] or [email protected].
Any remaining funds in the e-wallet will be refunded within a maximum of 15 business days, subject to internal verification and settlement of any outstanding amounts.
